EPLO MedMA -EUI: Policy Dialogue on Migration Governance in the Mediterranean

The European Public Law Organization (EPLO), through its Mediterranean Migration and Asylum Policy Hub (MedMA), is proud to have co-hosted a high-level Policy Dialogue addressing the evolving landscape of migration governance in the Mediterranean. The event, held in partnership with the European University Institute (EUI) on May 22, brought together key stakeholders to explore how the recently adopted EU Pact on Migration and Asylum intersects with the region’s unique geopolitical, economic, and social dynamics.

Against the backdrop of ongoing policy shifts and persistent humanitarian challenges, this initiative sought to foster informed discussion on building fair, sustainable, and effective migration policies—policies that both respect the rights of migrants and promote regional cooperation and development.

The Dialogue was led by Professor Kristin Fabbe, Director of the Executive Education Program at the EUI School of Transnational Governance, and Dr. Markos Karavias, Director of MedMA at EPLO, and featured expert contributions from representatives of the International Labour Organization, the Migration Policy Centre, and other regional actors.

A joint EUI–MedMA Policy Paper will be released following the event, outlining key takeaways and concrete recommendations that emerged from the dialogue. This document will serve as a guiding reference for policymakers, academics, and practitioners engaged in Mediterranean migration governance.
